Description:

East Asia, China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A remarkable pair of pottery jars. Enveloped in a lustrous, butterscotch-hued glaze, the larger vessel displays a voluminous body, a curved shoulder, and a flared rim, all sitting upon a narrow, ring-form foot. Nice remains of black-painted spiral and striated motifs adorn the exterior walls of the shoulder. Alternatively, the more petite jar exhibits a concave base, a wide shoulder, a brief neck, and a flared and folded rim. A mottled black and maroon glaze covers the top half of the vessel. Also note the lovely marine deposits scattered across the surface - a wonderful souvenir from centuries spent on the ocean floor! Size of larger: 6.8" Diameter x 7.8" H (17.3 cm x 19.8 cm)
