Description:

East Asia, China, late Ming Dynasty, ca. 17th century CE. A pretty pair of pottery jars, both boasting voluminous forms, rounded shoulders, and annular, folded rims. Sitting upon a narrow foot, the larger vessel boasts a lustrous glaze that envelops the top three-quarters of the exterior and is adorned with a dark green floral motif. Alternatively, the more petite vessel features a light gray slip and a petite pair of handles that flank the shoulder. Size of largest: 6.2" Diameter x 7.5" H (15.7 cm x 19 cm)

  • Condition: More petite jar has repairs to rim and small area of walls with some light restoration. Larger has some petite areas of restoration, chips with light surface loss to exterior, pitting, and a few stable hairline fissures. Both have expected surface wear with some minor nicks and abrasions as shown. Otherwise, both are excellent with nice remaining pigments. Both have collection labels on exterior.
