Pre-Columbian, Peru, Chancay culture, ca. 1000 to 1470 CE. This is a pair of ancient textile dolls in excellent condition for their age. One is wearing a multicolor tunic with a sash and has an embroidered face with black pupils and white irises, a headband, and hair. Loom sticks form her arms and legs. The other wears a brown sash and a plain weave skirt; her face is embroidered and she has long flowing hair. She has wrapped, articulated hands and feet, and a loom stick tucked into her belt. Size of largest: 3" W x 13.5" H (7.6 cm x 34.3 cm)

Provenance: Ex - Heidi and Harald Siegner-Maag, Birmensdorf, Switzerland, acquired before 1979; sold to Luis B Liquidationen, Zurich, Switzerland, in April 2011.
