Description:

South America, Brazil, early Cretaceous period, ca. 125 million years old. A pair of ray-finned fish that have undergone the process of fossilization. Both fish are from the genus aspidorhynchus and have streamlined bodies, pointed mouths, and miniscule fins. Both specimens display tightly-packed rows of minute scales, and a row of very fine teeth can still be observed on the larger fish. The smaller animal has developed hues of gray, silver, and dark brown, while the larger fossil displays hues of copper, cream, toffee, and wheat. Both animals are displayed in original stone backings. Size of largest: 6.75" L (17.1 cm).
