Description:

**Originally Listed At $400**

South America, Brazil, early Cretaceous period, ca. 125 million years old. Amazing! A pair of fossilized fish, surrounded by a layer of stone sediment. The streamlined bodies beautifully display the rows of scales and fins. The species is difficult to discern, but may be in the genus Rhacolepis - prehistoric and now extinct species of ray finned fish. The fish were excavated to reveal the upper half of their bodies, and they have developed a caramel brown hue from the fossilization process. Size: 8" L x 2.25" W (20.3 cm x 5.7 cm)

Provenance: ex-estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA acquired before 2000
