Pre-Columbian, Southern Peru / Bolivia, Lake Titicaca region, Tiahuanaco (Tiwanaku), ca. 100 to 500 CE. Two woven basketry bowls and a short piece of camelid wool rope. The bowls are made from coiled bundles of grasses and reed splints stitched on top. Size of large bowl: 5.5" Diameter x 2.3" H (14 cm x 5.8 cm)

  • Condition: Losses to rims on both baskets and splints in several areas of the coiled interior. Losses to coil and splints creating a gap on the small basket. Rope is a fragmentary piece, discolored with fraying top ends and center of weave.
