Description:

Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 19th century CE. A pair of brass dorjes, one of a rounded form and the other being relatively flat. The rounded dorje has a central bulb from which sprouts a pair of lotus blooms, each leading to a quartet of curved bars which resemble eagle talons. The flat dorje has an ovoid bulb in the center of two petaled caps with a trio of projecting talon-shaped bars. The dorje, an instantly recognizable symbol of Tibetan Buddhism, represents the moment at one attains enlightenment. Size of largest (flat design): 5.25" L (13.3 cm).
