A pair of matching papier mache and lacquered book covers, painted with floral motifs and gilt highlights. During the Qajar period book publishing flourished, printed manuscripts of classic Persian literature, poetry, and history within artful / ornate covers aided in a sense of nationalism and pride. These could be mounted and framed as beautiful display pieces. Size: 5.75" L x 4" W (14.6 cm x 10.2 cm)
