Description:

East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 19th century CE. A wonderful pair of porcelain vessels in a style known as Blanc de Chine with sculpted reliefs on the sides. The first is comprised of a ring foot and a globular body with a tall neck. The other also has a ring base with a shorter, piriform profile an abbreviated neck. The first features four immortals in high relief on the sides with applied balls encircling the exterior and interior of the rim. The other vessel has a textured surface with landscape scenery, and a robed woman with a basket of flowers. Both are marked on bottom with an incised seal mark. The lustrous surface is covered in a white-gray glaze suffused with a fine network of craquelure. Size of smaller vase: 8" W x 9.5" H (20.3 cm x 24.1 cm); larger vase: 9" W x 10.5" H (22.9 cm x 26.7 cm)

  • Condition: Smaller vase has a chip and loss to rim. Nicks and chips to high pointed areas of both. Minor surface pitting and glazing imperfections. Lovely craquelure to glaze and great preservation of details.
