China, Ming Dynasty, 1368 to 1644 CE. Two Sancai glazed pottery attendants - a male and female - each on integral base and covered with green/yellow glazes and further refined with added red, white and black pigments. The male holds an object (perhaps a loaf of bread) in his hands folded against his chest and wears a tall fedora. The female holds a fan in her left hand, her hair pulled back. Two very nice examples! Size: 8" H (20.3 cm)

Provenance: private Florida collection of a distinguished doctor who traveled the world in the 1950's to 1980.
