A finely painted retablo on heavy gauge tin depicting the Blessed Virgin Mary in her role as the patroness of the Carmelite Order or the Discalced Carmelite Order - also known as the Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel or the Brown Scapular. N.S. de Carmen is presented in her role as the protectress, donning her traditional robes painted a rich, dark brown, a golden crown, and a white veil, holding a scapular with the shield of the Carmelite Order delineated in golden yellow. She holds the Christ Child and three seraphim/angels float in the billowing clouds beneath her feet. An elegantly balanced composition. Size: 13.75" L x 9.875" W (34.9 cm x 25.1 cm)
