Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Pachacamac culture, ca. 200 to 1000 CE. A lovely textile coca bag comprised of tightly-woven natural cotton fibers in hues of fuchsia, magenta, pale-yellow, citrine, black, and yellow. A repeating series of winged llama figures, each one facing to the left, with large wings, elongated heads, and angular limbs. The coca bag has been opened down one side to fully display its intriguing imagery. A well-preserved example! Mounted on tan fabric backing for presentation. Size (textile): 15" W x 10.5" H (38.1 cm x 26.7 cm); size (backing): 22.5" W x 18" H (57.2 cm x 45.7 cm).
