Description:

South America, Bolivia, ca. 20th century CE. One of the grandest sterling silver Spanish Colonial crowns we have ever seen, hand-made by the Andean silversmiths in Bolivia from high content .925 silver (502 grams), created via the same techniques used since the Colonial era by the Andean silversmiths, meticulously hand hammered, expertly molded in repousse, adorned with an orb-shaped finial decorated with a Latin cross atop and twin chased curvilinear motifs to each side. Most striking is the radiating halo punctuated by eleven six-pointed stars. Size: 12.75" W x 11.5" H (32.4 cm x 29.2 cm)

Descendants of the Inca culture, the Aymara speaking artists have devoted themselves to preserving this thousand year old tradition. A brilliant example, perfect for anyone who appreciates Spanish colonial devotional art. Bridged section stamped "ENART .925." A marvelous silver corona or resplendor - at once opulent and lofty.
