Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Olmec to Proto-Maya culture, ca. 500 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery figure seated with legs crossed in front of a pudgy abdomen. The figure sits upright with broad shoulders, bent arms, and a thick neck, and the head exhibits a pensive upward gaze. The inquisitive countenance is composed of slanted, almond-shaped eyes, a petite nose, full lips, and spool-adorned ears, all beneath a lobed coiffure with a striated frontal sash. Size: 2.25" W x 3.8" H (5.7 cm x 9.7 cm); 4.4" H (11.2 cm) on included custom stand.
