Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, late Olmec to Proto-Maya culture, ca. 500 BCE to 300 CE. An amusing pottery jar in the form of a dwarf in the midst of a shamanic transformation with jaguar ears sprouting atop the head and ovoid eyes extending to a feline form. Wearing only a chest piece, the kneeling figure places both hands on their distended abdomen as their back curves to suggest the form of a hunchback or the arched spine of a jungle cat. Their mesmerizing eyes and gaping mouth are also indicative of psychedelic intoxication - a truly transformative piece! Size: 4.5" W x 6.3" H (11.4 cm x 16 cm)
