Description:

**Originally Listed At $800**

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Olmec, ca. 1150 to 550 BCE. Olmec jade objects such as this trapezoidal celt/axe form are unparalleled for the blue-green hues and natural veining in the stone as well as their remarkably, symmetrically balanced form, and elegant surface finish. This ceremonial celt, being of rare quality and exceptional size, is no exception! The Olmecs clearly exhibited an extraordinary command of this extremely difficult to carve medium. Size: 2.125" W x 5.75" H (5.4 cm x 14.6 cm); 6.375" H (16.2 cm) on included custom stand.
