Description:

Ancient Near East, Mesopotamia, Babylon, Old Babylonian period, ca. early 2nd millennium BCE. A finely preserved cylinder seal carved from chocolate-brown stone of a slender form with a suspension hole drilled through the body. Carved atop the surfaces is a scene depicting a pair of standing deities with one accompanied by an attendant. A pair of spacer columns bear cuneiform text that, while untranslated, contains two instances of the character 'Dingir,' which is an honorific title meaning "divine." Custom roll-out included. Size: 1" L x 0.375" W (2.5 cm x 1 cm)
