Northern Europe, Celtic culture, Late Bronze Age, ca. 800 to 500 BCE. A wonderful cast-bronze socketed axe head with a rounded socket shaft, a small suspension loop on top, and a rough oval-shaped body which tapers to a curved blade edge. A light-brown patina coats the surface, and stunning areas of sapphire-blue patina are visible along the socket end. Two drilled perforations on the top and bottom of the spine are used for mounting purposes. Includes custom museum-quality stand. Size: 4" L x 1.55" H (10.2 cm x 3.9 cm); 3.75" H (9.5 cm) on included custom stand.
