Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Greater Nicoya, Huerta Incised tradition, ca. 300 to 800 CE. An impressive pottery figure standing quite confidently atop thick legs with arms akimbo. Wearing only a skirt, her prominent breasts protrude outwards as elaborate, incised decoration of geometric designs and interlaced patterns adorn her skin, likely representing tattoos. Her stern visage is comprised of prominent, angled brows, wide, ovoid eyes, a hooked nose, straight full lips, sharp cheeks, and a pointed chin, all beneath a high hairline. Size: 6.3" W x 9.5" H (16 cm x 24.1 cm)
