Pre-Columbian, Central America, Costa Rica, Nicoya region, ca. 600 to 1200 CE. A hand-built pottery bowl depicting an abstract zoomorphic creature standing upon a quartet of nubbin legs. The head features bulging eyes and a tall nose, and mounted atop the back of the creature is a deep bowl with a densely decorated basin. Size: 6.4" L x 5.2" W x 4.75" H (16.3 cm x 13.2 cm x 12.1 cm)

Provenance: private Stillwater, Oklahoma, USA collection, acquired 1969 to 1970; ex-Dr. Jorge Lineas, San Jose, Costa Rica
