Native American, Northwestern United States, Oregon, Plateau region, Warm Springs Tribes (Tenino, Wasco, Northern Paiute), ca. early to mid-20th century CE. A beaded leather bag with hide handles and lined with cotton fabric, the front panel covered in seed bead- the background flat stitched and the flower and leaves are contoured. Native people in the Columbia River Plateau region (eastern Oregon / Washington, northern Idaho, and western Montana) were highly talented with beadwork, making bags and purses such as this for personal use during pow wows and for sale. Size: 10" L x 9" W (25.4 cm x 22.9 cm)
