Description:

Western Europe, Neoclassical Period, ca. 19th century CE. A pleasing gold ring with a slender shank with terminals that trifurcate just beneath the ovoid bezel. Incised atop the intaglio is the pulchritudinous, left-facing portrait of a youthful male with a pointed nose, gaunt cheeks, and a wide eye, all beneath a laurel wreath and a domed cap or helmet. Size (ring): 0.76" W x 0.85" H (1.9 cm x 2.2 cm); (shank): 0.76" Diameter (1.9 cm); (bezel): 0.52" W x 0.68" H (1.3 cm x 1.7 cm); (intaglio): 0.45" W x 0.58" H (1.1 cm x 1.5 cm); metal quality: 44% copper, 40.85% gold, 8% zinc; weight: 3.4 grams; US ring size: 5.5
