Western Europe, probably Italy, Neoclassical period, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful agate cameo featuring the bust of Minerva - Greek Athena - the Roman goddess of wisdom, justice, and victory, set in an elegant gold ring. Boasting natural hues of chocolate and espresso, the deity faces left, boasting a noble visage as luscious, coiled locks flow out from beneath her high-crested, Corinthian helmet. The rectangular stone is set on a broad shoulder of the ring, which tapers at the opposite side. A wonderful wearable piece of history! Size of ring: 1.1" L x 0.8" W (2.8 cm x 2 cm); of cameo: 0.9" L x 0.6" W (2.3 cm x 1.5 cm); US ring size: 9.5; gold quality: 60% (equivalent to over 14 karats); weight: 10.9 grams
