Western Europe, Neoclassical, ca. 19th century CE. This is a handsome pair of agate intaglios set into 56.77% to 58.46% (equivalent to 13K+ to 14K) gold settings as wearable cufflinks. The first pair contain a right and left facing head of Mars and Bellona, respectively- Mars is helmeted and has a spear over one shoulder. The other cufflink contains a soldier with a crested helmet, and a woman in a Phrygian cap. The stones are a warm hue of citrine and semi-opaque beige banding, set into formfitting bezels connected by hooked chain links, and are fully functional and wearable. Size (intaglio face): 0.65" L x 0.5" W (1.7 cm x 1.3 cm); (cufflink): 1" L (2.5 cm); gold quality: 56.77% to 58.46% (equivalent to 13K+ to 14K); total weight: 9.5 grams
