Description:

Western Europe, England, Italy, or France, Neoclassical Period, ca. 19th century CE. A banded agate stone intaglio with the head of the Greek god Hermes - or Roman god Mercury - shown in profile facing left and set in a 16K gold setting. The ancient messenger god is seen in his traditional winged helmet, that sits atop a classically curly coiffure. The ring is wearable and mounted in a delicate form fitting bezel with a double wire band. Size of bezel: 0.55" L x 0.45" W (1.4 cm x 1.1 cm); band opening: 0.69" Diameter (1.8 cm); US ring size 7; metal quality: 66.6% to 69.4% (equivalent to 16K to 16K+) gold, 11.3% to 8.3% silver, 22% copper; weight: 2.8 grams

Please note: due to the band shape, a ring sizer mandrel does not accurately reflect the correct size.
