Ancient Near East, Neo-Babylonian period, ca. early to mid-1st millennium BCE. A hand-carved chalcedony cylinder seal depicting a kneeling heroic figure, perhaps Ningirsu, defeating a trio of large avian demons. The figure grasps one bird by the throat while reaching out for another, its wings aflutter in the wind, and the third bird is of petite size near the top of the register. Custom putty rollout included. Size: 0.52" W x 1.09" H (1.3 cm x 2.8 cm)
