Central Asia, Bactrian (BMAC) culture, ca. 1st millennium BCE. A lovely necklace composed almost entirely of ancient beads and an ancient gold clasp (the four small metal beads near the clasp are modern brass). Fifteen 92% gold (equivalent to 22K+) beads are interspersed with over a dozen warm red carnelian beads and six agate beads that range in color from cloudy white to banded orange. The gold beads are all roughly spherical, but with a variety of decorations - granulations, repousse ribs, and fine wirework to create spirals. Length of strand: 16" L (40.6 cm); gold quality: 92% gold, equivalent to 22K+.

  • Condition: Ancient beads and clasp that have been restrung in modern times. The four tiny gold-colored beads near the clasp are modern brass. The ancient beads all have signs of wear commensurate with age, including some chips/scratches from the stone beads. Light deposits on many of the ancient surfaces.
