Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. An intriguing figure of a woman, standing, holding a small dog in one hand. The dog's mouth touches her mouth, hopefully showing affection rather than trying to eat the dog - but dogs were a source of food in this culture! Painted cream and earthy red, this figure was made to be placed in the tomb and may have had personal significance to the deceased. This figure Size: 1.95" W x 3.9" H (5 cm x 9.9 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Triffo Collection, acquired in the 1970s
