Ancient Near East, ca. late 2nd to early 1st millennium BCE. A beautiful alabaster stone vessel with a rounded base, smooth walls, a rotund body, a deep interior cavity, and a raised rim. Two rectangular protrusions flank either side of the body, each with a pair of petite drilled perforations for suspension. Vessels like this example would have originally had an accompanying lid, though this one does not. Size: 2.375" W x 2.25" H (6 cm x 5.7 cm).
