Description:

**Originally Listed At $750**

Pre-Columbian, South Coast of Peru, Nazca culture, ca. 100 to 300 CE. A trio of large wooden ear spools, each with a slightly flared plug end and a wide, radiating disc face. The entire surfaces of all three are completely covered by feathers - one with deep amethyst color, the other two shading between light turquoise and sky blue. All of these feathers probably came from the quintessential brightly colored Amazonian bird, the Paradise Tanager. These birds - or at least their feathers - would have been traded across the Andes to the coast where the Nazca lived so they could make these incredible adornments. Here, the trio is displayed together in a unique stand. Size: 2.2" W x 1.8" H (5.6 cm x 4.6 cm); 8.95" H (22.7 cm) on included custom stand.
