Description:

Pre-Columbian, Peru, Nazca culture, ca. 100 BCE to 800 CE. This is a nicely shaped bowl with a slightly rounded base (these objects were made to be placed in sand rather than on a flat surface) and a slightly outstretched rim. The rim is ringed on the interior by a bright red slip. The exterior has a pattern that could be interpreted as waves or as the red, orange, and cream colors of mineral rich mountains - something the Nazca certainly would have been familiar with. Size: 6.5" W x 4" H (16.5 cm x 10.2 cm)
