Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southern Peru, Nazca (Nasca), 300 to 700 CE. This is a stirrup vessel with two small spouts and a wide strap handle. The body of the vessel is covered in colorful painted depictions of what appear to be abstract bird heads drawn from the side. Other suggestions include jellyfish or squid, but based on how commonly birds are depicted in Nazca painted pottery, it seems most likely that they are birds with protruding beaks. Size: 6.5" W x 9" H (16.5 cm x 22.9 cm).
