Description:

Pre-Columbian, Peru, Nazca culture, probably Phase 6 or 7, ca. 600 CE to 800 CE. A bulbous olla with a narrow neck and mouth. A band of repeated abstract beings flow around the upper body, below the unpronounced rim. This style of painting corresponds to later Nazca periods, when supernatural figures became the center of the artists' attention and their more fantastical elements - here four figures with enormous zoomorphic masks, snail-like tails, and long, dagger-like tongues - are exaggerated. The black outlines filled with bright, warm colors are classically Nazca. Size: 5.7" W x 4.1" H (14.5 cm x 10.4 cm)

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase.
