Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 200 to 600 CE. A very attractive hand-built pottery bowl with a rounded base and a slightly tapered neck. The surface is burnished and slipped in a warm umber brown hue with a bold white field encircling the body overpainted with vertical bands flanked by stars alternating in colors of black and red-brown. Size: 4.75" Diameter x 5" H (12.1 cm x 12.7 cm)

Provenance: ex-Nancy and Dr. E.F. Simpson collection, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired from 1970 to 2000
