Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca culture, ca. 250 BCE to 400 CE. A gorgeous and extremely long sash comprised of tightly-woven camelid (alpaca and llama wool) fibers in hues of gold, crimson, and brown. The sash displays dozens of areas containing stepped, chevron, diamond, rectangular, bar-shaped, wave-form, diagonal, square, zigzag and triangular motifs. One end bears a slender tassel thread, and the other is lightly folded. Size: 452.5" L x 1.375" W (1149.4 cm x 3.5 cm).

Provenance: private Allison collection, Kent, Washington, USA, inherited in the mid-1970s
