Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 200 to 500 CE. A hand-built pottery vessel with a round but stable base, a hemispherical upper body, and a pair of petite spouts with a slender, stirrup-shaped handle arching between them. The highly burnished surfaces are first decorated with red pigment before having a pair of abstract serpentine creatures with simian-esque faces painted on them in hues of black, orange, white, red, and gray. Size: 5.125" W x 6" H (13 cm x 15.2 cm)

  • Condition: Repair and restoration to areas of handle and spouts, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions and fading to original pigment, with a few petite spalls. Nice preservation to original pigment in most areas.
