Description:

Pre-Columbian, Southcoast Peru, Nazca, ca. 100 BCE to 800 CE. A hand-built pottery kero cup with highly burnished surfaces painted with polychrome pigments in earthen hues of umber sienna, and brown on a beige slip. The upper rim has a stepped motifs and solid bands of color and the lower hemispherical motifs with three stippled dots represent highly simplified trophy heads. This type of vessel was often used as ceremonial gifts and for ritualistic libations made from fermented corn known as chicha. Size: 3.5" Diameter x 5.75" H (8.9 cm x 14.6 cm)
