Description:

Starts at $250 A really exceptional vessel! Southern Peru, Ca 200 to 400 CE. Globular jar with typical Nazca twin spout, fabulously decorated with the underworld deity holding a fish in one hand, eating a lobster with a lobster-like body sitting atop two human heads - all this while possibly giving birth to another similar deity - while his other two hands hold a club near yet another lobster-like creature. Whew! So much going on in such a small vessel! 6"H x 5-1/2"D. Provenance: ex-private Scottsdale, AZ collection.Authenticity GuaranteedThe starting price is the price at which the piece can sell.
