Pre-Columbian, Peru, South Coast, Nazca, ca 200-600 CE. This ovoid jar features a series of trophy head deities or tasters painted around the upper circumference. The cream-colored face with extended tongue, half moon eyes, and marks indicating body paint or scarification is topped with a series of scrolled and peaked forehead ornaments which has eyes, mouths, tongues and spreading serpentlike finials. Bifurcated hairs project from all parts.
