Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 600 to 800 CE. A beautiful hand-built pottery bowl with a round but stable base, tall walls, a deep basin, and a thin rim. The highly-burnished vessel is decorated with a vivid red slip within the basin and below the base and forms the exterior ground coloration. The walls depict a trio of stylized feline figures, perhaps jaguars, with spotted grey bodies, wide almond-shaped eyes, projecting whiskers, hanging tongues, and sinuous tails shown in black, purple, red, and white hues. A fabulous example from ancient Peru! Size: 6.4" W x 2.5" H (16.3 cm x 6.4 cm).
