Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca culture, ca. 100 BCE to 400 CE. A fine polychrome bowl with a wide basin and an abstract motif painted across its exterior. The bowl rests on a well-constructed round bottom with accenting vertical walls delineated by a rich cream color and alternating linear abstractions in shades of burgundy and ochre. The interior basin is painted in a uniform red hue that matches the red tone found in the exterior design. Nazca pottery is known for its characteristically thin-walled and well-formed constructions adorned by abstract designs in strong contrast to the realism exhibited in the works of their contemporary to the north, the Moche. This is truly a beautiful example! Size: 8.25" Diameter x 3.25" H (21 cm x 8.3 cm)
