Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 125 to 250 CE. A spectacular piece of Nazca pottery with a slightly curved base and a soft curve to the walls making for a splayed rim. A series of banner-like panels in white seem to hang from the brown-black line painted around the rim. These are set on an orange ground and each panel contains an characteristically abstract rendition of a downward facing bird in profile with spread wings, in alternating colors of russet red, orange, tan, and light tan. Beneath these panels is a red band and a wave or hill motif in white and chocolate brown. Size: 6.25" W x 4.375" H (15.9 cm x 11.1 cm)
