Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery vessel with a round but stable base, tapered walls, and a bridge handle arching between a pair of conical spouts, all decorated with polychrome pigments. Painted on each side of the body is the Anthropomorphic Mythical Being (or AMB) with a blood-stained knife in one hand and the hair of a dangling, severed trophy head in the other hand. The large face is comprised of white eyes, cat-like whiskers, and ornamented bangs, and his cape is made up of several additional trophy heads. Size: 5.25" W x 6.8" H (13.3 cm x 17.3 cm)
