Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A delightful pottery sculpture of a nude female shown seated akimbo and facing forward with tapered legs extending from her thick body. An elongated head rises from her square shoulders, just above petite breasts. Bangles adorn her slender arms as her characteristic visage displays slit-form eyes, a pointed nose, and an incised smile, all surmounted by a headband and a veil-like coiffure. Incised striation sand red and orange pigments further embellish her body, while striated ears flank her head. Size: 3.9" L x 5.1" W x 7.1" H (9.9 cm x 13 cm x 18 cm)
