Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, San Sebastian style, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A lovely example of a San Sebastian redware female figure. Seated with both legs extending outwards, her arms curled to her flat back, and perky breasts and rounded shoulders completing her form. Nude except for hoop-shaped earrings, the sculptor envisioned this figure with an elongated head, a prominent nose, coffee-bean-shaped eyes, and a thin mouth. She dons a lightly-grooved hairstyle atop her brow which additionally cascades down the back of her head. Her highly-burnished body boasts a beautiful red-orange coloration, and faint geometric designs adorn her torso and posterior region. Size: 7.25" H (18.4 cm).
