Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, San Sebastian type, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery figure of a large woman standing nude atop arched feet and delineated legs. The woman exhibits globular breasts, a rounded belly, cicatrices on her shoulders, and ringlets adorning her ears and septum. Figures like this were placed around deceased bodies in shaft tombs beneath typical Nayarit dwellings. Size: 9.1" W x 14.9" H (23.1 cm x 37.8 cm)
