Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery figure seated with arms crossed atop bent knees. The head is raised in an attentive position with impressed eyes peering forward, however the blank stare suggests this is depicting a mourner or perhaps an individual experiencing a hallucinogenic trance. Much of the red-orange slip pigment adorning the arms and head has darkened to a smoky gray hue. Size: 3.125" W x 4.6" H (7.9 cm x 11.7 cm)

Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.
