Description:

**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built pottery figure depicting a man standing upon thick legs and dramatically arched feet. His nude lower body bears a phallus protruding from between his legs, and he wears a waist-length tunic over his chest and arms. His left hand hangs at his side with an open palm while his right brandishes a ceremonial tumi. His head features bulging ovoid eyes, a prominent nose adorned with a penannular ring, and curved ears with crescent-shaped earrings, all beneath a conical hat with a ring-shaped brim. Faint remains of black-painted stripes can be seen on his tunic and legs and give him a personalized presentation. Size: 5.7" W x 9.9" H (14.5 cm x 25.1 cm)
