Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. Standing woman showing signs of pregnancy, holding a jar in her right hand, painted in red slip with some remaining white details. Though the upper half of her torso is naked, she wears a striped skirt, a wide headband adorned with a zigzag pattern, and elaborate ear ornaments. Her visage displays traits characteristic of the Nayarit including an overall rectangular shape, wide open eyes, a prominent nose, and negative resist tattoos/face paint. Size: 5.25" W x 8.125" H (13.3 cm x 20.6 cm)
