Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery figure of a seated man, nude with bent legs and crossed arms, with red-painted tattooing across the lighter body. The poignant countenance presents with generously lidded eyes, a prominent nose, earring groups on each ear, and pursed lips, all beneath an enormous, bowl-shaped headdress adorned with red linear motifs and a periphery of projecting prongs. Size: 6.25" L x 6.3" W x 8.75" H (15.9 cm x 16 cm x 22.2 cm)
